How the Simbio System™ works

The Simbio System begins with simple resistance cords consisting of over a thousand strands of high quality rubber that are contained within a cloth covering. The cords are then attached to a series of cams and pulleys that force the cord to be stretched as the exercise is performed.

The cords are pre-stretched in their corresponding slots. Because the cords are already stretched, tension is present as soon as you start to move through the range of motion. There is no static weight stack to lift, so the start position has immediate and constant force.

The constant force eliminates the inertial effect, or the tendency of the traditional weight stack to remain at rest or continue in its direction of movement.

The Simbio System has been designed with minimal number of settings to allow for an easy, quick set-up on each piece. The Life Fitness engineers carefully considered the safety factors of body support, correct biomechanics, full range of motion and ease of use. From the moment you sit in each piece you will feel supported as the machine guides you through each movement. Each piece of equipment has been carefully engineered to place demands on both the large and small muscles of the body during the 30/30 Circuit™ workout. The 30/30 Circuit has a unique balance between push and pull exercises and upper and lower body movements. This system creates an effective total body workout.

The constant sustained resistance created by the unique cord configuration feels as though each machine has been customized for each user’s strength curve. The constant sustained resistance still gives participants with limited ranges of motion and flexibility an effective and functional workout. The sensitive resistance in the cords responds quickly to the slightest amount of force regardless of speed. This is what provides the smooth feeling of the machine even as you begin to tire, weaken and slow your movement. The drag of friction one feels from traditional weight stacks is eliminated by this system. Unlike selectorized equipment with pulleys and weight stacks, as you begin lifting the weight, subsequently stretching the cords, you will feel a constant force in both the positive and negative resistance. You will always feel in control of the weight because the “flyaway effect” of the weight stack is eliminated.

The low start weight and the small increments on each piece make this perfect for the beginner or the person returning to exercise. The small increments allow the user to progress at a slower rate, which helps to reduce soreness. Making small gains will still challenge you with the least amount of discomfort, helping you to stick with the program and enjoy success. The smaller weight increments and correct body positioning create a safe strength training environment for seniors, teens and even post-physical therapy patients.

Integrating this balanced circuit approach and unique technology into a time monitored circuit overwhelmingly increases muscle fiber recruitment.
